1. Safety information for tufting guns

This section applies to electric tufting guns, for example the AK-1, AK-V, ZQ-II, Long Pile models and other similar tools intended for handmade rug production.

Tufting guns are electric tools with a rapidly moving needle, scissors and other mechanical parts. Improper use, unprofessional maintenance or handling while the tool is switched on may result in injury, damage to the tool or the creation of a hazardous situation.

Main risks

  • Injury caused by the moving needle.
  • Injury caused by moving scissors or the cutting mechanism.
  • Entrapment of fingers, hair, loose clothing, jewellery or other objects in moving parts.
  • Injury caused by accidental activation of the tool during yarn threading, needle replacement, adjustment or cleaning.
  • Electric shock when using a damaged cable, adapter, plug or other electrical parts.
  • Overheating of the tool during prolonged use without a break, when the mechanism is blocked, when lubrication is insufficient or when the tool is incorrectly adjusted.
  • Damage to the tool when used on improperly stretched fabric or when using unsuitable material.
  • Risk of burns when touching overheated parts of the tool.

Safety instructions before use

  • Before each use, check the condition of the tool, power cable, adapter, plug, needle, scissors and visible screws.
  • Do not use the tool if it is damaged, makes an unusual sound, overheats, vibrates excessively or does not operate smoothly.
  • Check that all parts are properly secured and that the moving mechanism moves freely.
  • Use only suitable and firmly stretched tufting fabric.
  • Keep the work area clean, dry, well lit and free from loose cables or obstacles.
  • When working, do not wear loose clothing, long sleeves, bracelets or other items that could become caught in the mechanism.
  • Keep long hair tied back.

Safety instructions during use

  • Never place fingers or other parts of the body in the area of the needle, scissors or moving mechanism while the tool is switched on or connected to power.
  • Hold the tool firmly with both hands and use it only for its intended purpose.
  • Do not run the tool outside the fabric unless it is necessary to check its function.
  • Do not use the tool near water, in a damp environment or with wet hands.
  • Monitor the temperature of the tool during work. If the tool begins to overheat, switch it off, disconnect it from power and allow it to cool down.
  • Do not use the tool for long periods without a break. During longer work, take regular breaks to prevent overheating of the motor or mechanical parts.
  • If the needle, scissors or mechanism become jammed, switch the tool off immediately and disconnect it from power. Never remove a jam while the tool is switched on or connected to power.
  • Never point the working part of the tool at people or animals.

Maintenance, cleaning and adjustment

  • Before threading yarn, replacing the needle, replacing scissors, cleaning, lubricating or making any adjustment, always switch the tool off and disconnect it from power.
  • Do not touch the needle, scissors or gear mechanism while the tool is connected to electricity.
  • Regularly remove yarn residues, dust and dirt from around the needle, scissors and moving parts.
  • Keep moving parts properly lubricated according to the recommendations of the manufacturer or seller.
  • Use only compatible spare parts.
  • Do not modify the tool yourself in a way that is not intended by the manufacturer or seller. Unprofessional interventions may increase the risk of injury, damage to the tool or loss of warranty.

Electrical safety

  • Use the tool only with a suitable power supply.
  • Do not use a damaged cable, adapter or plug.
  • Do not route the cable over sharp edges, hot surfaces or places where it could be pinched or damaged.
  • Do not pull the cable when unplugging it from the socket.
  • After finishing work, switch the tool off and disconnect it from power.
  • If an electrical part becomes damaged, do not use the tool and contact the seller or a professional service provider.

Storage

  • Store the tool switched off, disconnected from power and out of reach of children.
  • Store it in a dry environment.
  • Protect the tool from falls, impacts, moisture, dust and excessive temperature.
  • Protect the needle and sharp parts from damage.
